Work Baby Shower #2

On Friday, I thought I was walking into a meeting, but instead, about 20 co-workers of mine threw me a surprise baby shower.  They said that the last one, which was combined with two other people, wasn't good enough.  I was completely shocked!

The lady who made the diaper cake for the last shower made a gorgeous cake that was shaped like a baby buggy (I unfortunately don't have any pictures, but if I do get some, I'll be sure to share).  We also received a ton of gifts for JBird.  Some of my favorites are below:

Anti-Monkey Butt Diaper Rash Powder

Boogie Wipes

Receiving Blankets handmade by my co-worker Katie
Knitted Bibs

A bear suit and monkey outfits
Nike Air Force Ones

36 Weeks - in Due Time

I'm a bit hesitant to post these, as they are very unflattering, but why stop now?  I feel like I'm getting bigger every day (which I probably am).  I thought about taking weekly pictures from here on out, but after seeing these, I'm not in a hurry to take more any time soon :)  Without further ado, the week 36 pictures:

We entered the 37th week on Monday (JBird is now the length of swiss chard!), which is what my yoga teacher calls "Due Time".  In other words, the baby is considered full term and can come any day now.  I didn't know this before, but there is actually a 5 week window from the 37th week to the 42nd where the baby can be born (the due date is the beginning of week 40), and only 2% of babies are delivered on their due date.  Good thing I like surprises!

Everyone keeps asking if I'm ready, and I really think that I am (and not just because I now frequently get kicked in the ribs and punched in the bladder at the same time!).  The room is pretty much ready to go, the car seat is installed in the car, the diaper bag is packed, and we have a freezer full of pre-made dinners for when we come home.  Tonight, we're taking a tour of the hospital so we'll know were to park, register, etc.  Surprisingly, I'm not even that worried about the delivery (even after hearing about my co-worker's wife going through 17 hours of labor followed by a C-Section a couple of weeks ago!).  I'm just ready.

Our Little Soccer Player

We joke that we must be having a soccer play since the baby is such a strong kicker.  Thanks to one of my co-workers and our neighbors, our little soccer player will be well outfitted!

Uncle Matt, you're going to have some competition on the soccer field pretty soon!

32 Weeks and a Diaper Cake

First off, here are the week 32 pics:

We actually took these a little late, but better late than never, right?  As you can see, we're continuing to grow :)  Matthew just now realized that I've been wearing the same (or similar) outfit for each picture session.  He's very observant.

Everything continues to go well, although I'm starting to have some difficulty sleeping at night.  During a baby shopping spree in Oregon New Year's Eve weekend (yay for no sales tax!), we bought a body pillow which has helped quite a bit.  His name is Matthew II, or as I like to call him, Two-y.  We spent one morning of our Oregon trip hanging out at Sumptown Coffee, enjoying some yummy Americano's and attempting to complete the New York Times Crossword Puzzle.

And now, for the Diaper Cake:

Two co-workers of mine are expecting babies around the same time, so we had a joint baby shower at work.  I won the grand prize - the coveted diaper cake.  It's a little hard to see from the picture, but it contains a lot (you could call it a plethora) of rolled up newborn diapers, along with all kinds of other goodies such as onesies, bibs, blankets, and toys.  Such a neat idea!

I'll try to be better about updating more often, especially as the time is drawing near.  Only 38 days until our due date (not that anyone's counting!).

28 Weeks

Ok, I'm actually at 29 weeks (no one's counting, right?), but here are my belly pics from last week:

At 29 weeks, the baby weighs as much as a butternut squash (2.5 lbs) and is about 15 inches long.  Growing like a weed (just like me, as you can tell from the pictures!).

So it turns out my iron is still low, so I'm up to taking supplements twice a day instead of once.  Good news is that my glucose tests were fine, so no gestational diabetes!  I had another appointment today, and everything went well.

Long Overdue Update

Sorry it's been so long since we've posted!  (Thanks for the reminder, Sarah :)  First off, the 24 week belly shots (taken on 11/14):

Things have been pretty busy for us the past couple of months.  In October, we went back to Indiana for a week to be home with my Grandma for her surgery and to attend Matthew's cousin Zack's wedding.   Last week, we had a wonderful time hosting Jim, Patsy, Jason, Jill, and her boyfriend Joey for Thanksgiving.  We had a fun-filled week - in addition to Thanksgiving dinner, we took a day trip to Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula where we had some very good ice cream, cheered Jason on in the Seattle Marathon, ate lunch at the Ballard Farmer's Market, and celebrated Jill's birthday with cupcakes and dinner at Ray's Boathouse.

Everything with the pregnancy has been going smoothly so far.  Baby J is kicking up a storm (baby is actually kicking right now as I type this!), which is very cool.  We had a doctor's appointment on Friday where they they did a blood draw to check for gestational diabetes and my iron levels.  I was borderline anemic to start, and was feeling really tired throughout much of October and the first half of November.  I've been taking iron supplements, and it feels like they're working, but we'll see what my blood has to say.  Starting with this past appointment, I'll be going in to see the doctor every other week now (instead of once a month).  Hello, third trimester!

The nursery is slowly coming along.  In addition to the changing table, we purchased a dresser off of Craig's list, too.  Matthew founds some no-VOC paint, and we had fun painting them (as seen in the picture below - I posted a larger one so you can see his Matt Boone impersonation).  We have a rocker (thanks, Jim & Patsy!) and crib on order.  Very exciting!

Tonight, our amazing Seattle friends threw a baby shower for us.  I'm hoping to get some pictures from Addison (as I didn't take any!) to post soon.
