Festivals and Baptisms and Birthdays, Oh My!

Last weekend was a big weekend for us, filled with (you guessed it!) a music festival, a baptism, and a birthday.

On Saturday, July 13th, we joined up with my Aunt Donna, cousins Tyler and Alex, cousin-in-law Erin, and friends Justin and Emily to attend the Forecastle Music Festival in Louisville.  It was our first "date" in 10 months, and my first time leaving Charlie for more than an hour.  I was a little sad to let him go, but we had a blast.

We saw Shovels and Rope, Dawes, Alabama Shakes, Jim James, and the Black Keys.  Can't wait to go back next year!

On Sunday, July 14th, Charles Norman was baptized by Fr. Sonny Day at St. John the Baptist Church in Starlight, Indiana.  His Godparents are my cousin Natalie and Matthew's brother Jason.  It was a very nice ceremony, and we followed it by a delicious lunch at Jason's house, hosted by the Netts.  My Aunt Patty commented that the food was so good, we should have another child just so we can have another Baptism party :).  A big thank you to Jim, Patsy, Jason, and Jill for putting together the lunch, and for all of our family who shared in Charlie's special day.
I'm bummed that we didn't get a picture of Charlie with his Godparents at the church, but here's a couple that we took previously:

And on Monday, July 15th, we celebrated my Dad's 60th birthday.  The boys, Aunt Steph, and I took Papaw to the Louisville Slugger museum, and afterwards we met Lala at Buckheads for lunch.  Although we didn't get to hear all of the bat factory tour because we were busy making sure some crazy two year old didn't stick his hands in the machinery, what we did hear was pretty interesting.  Like the fact that one baseball player will go through two 80 year-old trees worth of bats in one season.  Crazy.
That evening, we had some family over and celebrated with Pizza King and an ice cream cake.  Happy 60th, Dad.  We love you!!
